Meta Archives explores the archive as a living and relational system. It engages with memory, data, and institutional knowledge, reflecting on how materials, infrastructures, and social relations construct histories. Archiv der Archivierung visualizes the history of Fabrikraum, revealing the encounters, intersections, and influences among many cultural agents within Vienna’s independent art scene. It reconsiders the archive as a non-hierarchical structure, suggesting that narratives shaped by independent spaces stand alongside those of large institutions to form a more complete image. Erinnerung der Stadtbäume extends this reflection toward urban ecology. It approaches fallen tree branches as material archives of climate and urban transformation by processing data from the Baumkataster Stadt Wien and GeoSphere Austria. The project aims to reclaim their agency by transforming this data into poetic voices that express environmental and weather-related changes as a local, embodied history.
Featuring:
Laurus Edelbacher, 1990 geboren in Melk (NÖ), absolvierte zunächst die Fachschule für Bildhauerei in Hallstatt und vollendete darauf folgend ein Studium an der Wiener Kunstschule bei Michael Kargl und Christoph Nebel in der Interdisziplinären Medienklasse. Anschließend schloss er mit ausgezeichnetem Erfolg ein Diplomstudium an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien in der Klasse für Digitale Kunst bei Ruth Schnell ab. Laurus Edelbacher lebt und arbeitet in Wien / WWW. Er ist Mitglied im Kunst- und Kulturverein Fabrikraum und ist Teil des Künstlerduos "Rainbow Team" mit der Medienkünstlerin Anna Watzinger. Seine Werke wurden national wie international präsentiert und bewegen sich zwischen Browserfenster, Ausstellungsraum und künstlerischer Forschung.
