TRIAL and ERROR
A project CASTCERAMICS with the support of the European Union Culture Program “CREATIVE EUROPE.”
Coordinator: Mozi Foundation (PL) Partners: CAFI APS (IT) & IRARU
Trial and Error is the outcome of the ‘Cast Ceramics’, a Creative Europe project initiated by three associations from Italy, Austria, and Poland. Over this two-year journey, the project encouraged women artists to create together and experiment with new techniques.
The artworks came to life across residencies in three countries. In Italy, the participants began by reflecting on cultural heritage and identity as points of departure. In Austria, these reflections were developed through 3D modelling. Finally, in Poland, the forms found their final expression, materializing as ceramic objects.
The exhibition does not centre on finished artworks but reveals the creative process itself— the arts-based research, experimentation, and the implementation of technology. It traces how thoughts and feelings can slowly become tangible. Moving between places, languages, and traditions, the artworks explore new methodologies in ceramics while weaving personal stories into the collective subconscious, forming visual and conceptual bridges between past and present.
The audience is invited to witness how architectural heritage and archaeological artefacts echo within contemporary experiences of migration, mourning, community-building, sharing, and connection.
